I just read the new buckcherry '15' review back on the glitzine site and it get's quite a bashing.

I agree that the 'pump it up' cover is garbage, but overall I thought the album as a whole was as good, if not better, than their previous.

What did others think?

Well, I guess you know I am not a fan of it then.

I admit, in the review, I am not a fan of Buckcherry, and even less of a fan of Josh Todd. I think I even say in there that if you like the others, you probably would like this one.

For the record, I get tired of Todd's voice, real fast. It's better than the godawful Slamhound crap, I'll give it that.

Yup, the end:

I might be the wrong guy to review a band like Buckcherry, as they never really worked for me too well, and by my feeling the same about this one as their others, I am guessing that if you like the band, then this is a sure-fire must have for you. I don't know why they don't work for me, by all rationale they should. But something just misses.
<font size="4" face="Arial">I think that was a fair way to close it out. I also don't think the review has much "bashing" in it. Especially compared to what I cut out of it. If you want to see bashing...I could re-do it if you want.

Yeah, post us your 'uncut' review.

I'm not saying your review is wrong, but I was surprised to read it after everything I've heard from other who have heard it has been over whelmingly positive.

To me, it is one of the best albums I bought in the last 6 months.

I agree with Carl on the Elvis Costello song. I can say that I have never heard anything after there first CD and it does grow a little old on me as well. It not that his voice bothers me, but i do think I lot of the songs do kinda sound the same. I do think that some/ a lot of bands do a ballad to get that one hit. There are a lot of hair bands that got there glory over a ballad.

I've 'bashed' a few bands in reviews too but it all comes down to individual taste. Maybe you could do an alternative review, I see Villette got 2 seperate reviews.

I can see where Carl is coming from with that review, and I pretty much agree with it.

I really liked most of the S/T, and some of Time Bomb, but I couldn't get into Todd's solo 'You Made Me'.

I thought the first few songs on 15 were good, but then it kinda rolls along to about track 9 without me realising. Pleasant enough filler for the most part. And too much of Todd's vocals in one go can be painful. The screaming can be annoying. That's why I prefer having iTunes on shuffle, as the odd track now n then is good, but not a whole album in one listen.

<font size="4" face="Arial">I'm quite the opposite. I thouhgt Time Bomb and 15 were brilliant, and s/t was just okay. I haven;'t heard the solo album so cannot comment on that one.

<font size="4" face="Arial">I don't have the other version of the review anymore. I only keep my finals of everything, including interviews. If the editor makes the changes, I will still have my final. But if I make changes, and do away with certain bits and pieces, then they are gone forever.

I had high hopes for 15 though, as I had heard all of the same raves as you probably, or some of them. Heck, numerous people on here have praised it. I liked it with the first two songs, but then they turned to slow songs and ballads for too many tunes, too early, and I lost interest. Then they came back with the "controversial" number on the disc, and unfortunatley it was the type of song I detest.

But ys know, you love the disc and that's cool. You are obviously the type of person I was aiming the last paragraph at. I try not to exclude people from albums, and I really try and be objective. Read my Villette review for another example. Just because I dislike an album doesn't make it bad. I don't like Buckcherry, but that doesn't make them bad. They do what they do, and they do it very well, it just isn't for me.

I hate critics that tell people what good music is and isn't. The job of the critic is to give their opinion on something, but also to relay it to the audience so that the public will know if it is something they want to check out. If you know music, you will be able to tell if the muscianship and talent is there.

I'm glad you read the review though, as it lets me know somebody is reading the stuff! I'm also damn glad you started this thread! It got a discussion going, sparked by something on the main site, very nice change around here.

If you like him screaming, sounding like his throat's been slit, you'll love the solo album. I prefer it when he actually sings.
